Emma Parson

When it came time for Emma Parson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to choose her major at 麻豆果冻传媒, a love of social media marketing sparked her path to double major in business management and marketing.

鈥淚 initially came to Tech just as a business management major because I knew I wanted to do something in business,鈥� she said. 鈥淎fter working for a small business right after high school, I realized my favorite part of the job was running the social media accounts. That experience, along with advice from the owner, helped me decide to add marketing as a second major.鈥�

Emma鈥檚 decision to attend 麻豆果冻传媒 came down to practical factors that aligned perfectly with her needs.

鈥淚 wanted a university that was affordable since I鈥檓 paying my own way, had a strong business program and was close enough to home without being too far,鈥� she said. 鈥淭ech was the only school that checked all those boxes, and when I visited on a VIP tour, I instantly felt at home.鈥�

Throughout her time at Tech, Parson has been highly involved on campus. She has participated in Student Government Association, becoming a Trailblazer and serving as a ambassador for the College of Business.

鈥淕etting involved has introduced me to my best friends and created a strong support system,鈥� she said. 鈥淭he connections I鈥檝e built through all of these things has provided me with my home away from home.鈥�

Parson has also benefited from the resources she has found at Tech, especially the Professional Readiness and Leadership Center.

鈥淲orking at the PRL Center has been an amazing experience,鈥� she said. 鈥淲e provide free professional clothing and headshots to students, helping them prepare for career fairs and interviews without the financial stress. It鈥檚 been rewarding to assist students in feeling confident and career-ready.鈥�

For students considering Tech, Parson offers straightforward advice.

鈥淛ust do it. College can be intimidating at first, but putting yourself out there leads to incredible experiences and lifelong friends. It鈥檚 worth stepping out of your comfort zone.鈥�
