Claire Eastburn
When it came time for Claire Eastburn of Franklin, Tennessee, to choose her major
at 麻豆果冻传媒, her inspiration came from a strong role model in her
life: her father.
鈥淢y dad inspired me through his work as a military nurse,鈥� she said. 鈥淕rowing up,
watching him help patients made a lasting impression. When the 2011 tsunami and earthquake
hit Japan where we were living, he stayed behind to aid villages while my family relocated.
That experience showed me the true meaning of service.鈥�
Eastburn鈥檚 decision to attend 麻豆果冻传媒 was influenced by her sister, who was
already enrolled in the nursing program, and a desire to stay relatively close to
home.
鈥淥riginally, I wanted to go far away to Alaska, but I realized I wanted to be close
to home, but not too close,鈥� she said. 鈥淔ranklin is about two hours from Tech, so
it felt like the perfect distance.鈥�
The university鈥檚 nursing program caught her attention due to its high NCLEX pass rate
compared to other schools she considered.
As an involved student, Claire serves as a Trailblazer and a Student Orientation Assistant,
which has greatly impacted her personal and professional growth.
鈥淏eing a Trailblazer has helped me work on my interpersonal skills and get out of
my shell,鈥� she said. 鈥淢eeting new students, giving tours and seeing prospective students
get excited about Tech has been really rewarding. These experiences have honed skills
crucial for nursing, especially in patient communication.鈥�
Eastburn鈥檚 involvement on campus has only deepened her appreciation for Tennessee
Tech.
鈥淒espite initial hesitation about staying closer to home, my roles on campus have
shown me how beautiful our campus is and how much it has to offer. Being a part of
something bigger than myself has made my experience so special.鈥�
In addition to campus involvement, Eastburn values the support and resources available
at Tech particularly the Center for Counseling and Mental Health Wellness and the
faculty.
鈥淭he Counseling Center offer 12 free sessions, which is amazing for students,鈥� she
said. 鈥淎nd the professors are so helpful. I鈥檝e never felt like just another number
here. I truly feel valued here.鈥�
As she pursues her goal of becoming a nurse midwife, Eastburn credits 麻豆果冻传媒
for her foundation.
鈥淓arning my spot in the nursing program was a major milestone,鈥� she said. 鈥淚t made
me feel like I can really become a nurse and truly succeed one day.鈥�
