Biology B.S., Zoology Concentration
The Zoology concentration prepares students for careers working with or studying animals in captive or natural environments. Students will develop a basic understanding of animal physiology, morphology, behavior, systematics, ecology, and conservation with the goal of integrating knowledge across subdisciplines to achieve a comprehensive understanding of animal life, from cellular mechanisms to ecological principles.
Graduates with a Zoology concentration can work as wildlife biologists, zookeepers, animal behaviorists, conservation biologists, environmental consultants and other careers focused on animal care or research. They may find employment in zoos, wildlife reserves, research institutions, or governmental and non-governmental agencies involved in wildlife conservation and management. A zoology degree is also excellent preparation for students interested in pursuing a post-graduate degree in veterinary science or medicine.
