Botanical Conservatory

The Department of Biology maintains a conservatory located in between Pennebaker and Johnson Hall. The greenhouse has been operational since January 2015, and currently houses more than 150 different species of plants. The living specimens are used in teaching several classes including General Botany 2310, the Introductory Biology sequences, and Field Botany 3240. The greenhouse offers students and faculty an exciting teaching space that highlights the importance and relevance in our everyday lives. 

Important collections include:

  1. Desert/succulent collection
  2. Herb and spice collection
  3. Ferns and fern allies
  4. Aquatic plants
  5. Carnivorous/bog plants
