PT Overview

Physical Training (PT) is conducted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for all Cadets in the Golden Eagle Battalion from 6:00 – 7:15am. Remedial PT is also conducted on Tuesdays for Contracted Cadets who fail to meet the standards of the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) or non-contracted Cadets who want additional assistance. The PT program is designed to challenge participants of all abilities and is progressive in design to ensure Cadets regardless of starting fitness level improve their level of fitness throughout the semester. Cadets receive instruction on proper form and safe execution of each movement and all PT sessions are supervised by Cadre members. Cadets complete one diagnostic and one record APFT per semester. Contracted Cadets are required to pass the APFT in the months of October and April. Non-contracted Cadets must pass the APFT before they are eligible to contract. The PT class is a 1.0 credit hour course in the University catalog and any student at the University can enroll in the PT class.

APFT Summary

The Army's Basic Training Physical Fitness Test is a three-event physical performance test used to assess endurance. It is used to measure your physical strengths, abilities, and cardio-respiratory fitness.

The three APFT events are two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups, and a timed 2-mile run. Your results from each event are assigned a score. Your age, gender and the amount of repetitions or time elapsed for each event determines your score. APFT is performed in normal workout gear - running shoes, t-shirt, and shorts.
