Biology B.S., Health Sciences Concentration

The Health Science concentration is designed to provide students with the common prerequisite courses, including general biology, chemistry, and physics, for admission to health-related professional schools. Furthermore, they are afforded the opportunity to explore a variety of courses related to human anatomy, physiology, development, disease, and disease prevention. Upper division elective courses allow the student to extend their knowledge in areas like immunology, endocrinology, histology, and medical ethics.  

Graduates often find employment as technicians at hospitals or biotechnology firms. Others will choose to work in the realm of public health as an educator, coordinator, or outreach associate. Many students use this degree program to complete required prerequisite courses for admission to medical, physician assistant, dental, optometry, physical therapy, occupational therapy schools. The strong biology and chemistry course background also allows graduates to consider any career that requires a biology degree.
