Governing Documents

We, the students of 麻豆果冻传媒, come together to promote the welfare and interests of all students, to provide the necessary elements of responsible self-government, and to facilitate cooperation among the university administration, faculty, students, and surrounding community. In order to perpetuate an everlasting commitment to these good causes, we do hereby proclaim and establish this Constitution of the Student Government Association of 麻豆果冻传媒.

- Preamble to the SGA Constitution

The 麻豆果冻传媒 Student Government Association (SGA) operates under a clear set of rules and principles outlined in our governing documents. These documents provide the essential framework for our structure, procedures, and responsibilities. They ensure transparency, accountability, fairness, and consistency in how we represent and serve the student body.

Understanding these documents is key to understanding how SGA functions and how students can engage with their student government. We are committed to upholding these standards and making them accessible to all members of the TTU community.

Core Governing Documents

Below are the primary documents that guide the operations of the TTU SGA. We encourage all interested students to familiarize themselves with these foundational texts.

SGA Constitution

    • Description: This is the supreme governing document of the TTU SGA. It establishes the three branches of government (Legislative, Executive, Judicial), outlines their respective powers and duties, defines SGA membership, sets forth fundamental procedures, guarantees student rights in relation to SGA, and details the processes for elections, amendments, and other core functions. All other SGA policies and actions must align with the Constitution.

SGA Policies Manual

    • Description: This document complements the Constitution by providing more detailed operational procedures, rules, and regulations for the day-to-day functioning of SGA. It often includes specifics on committee operations (as referenced in Article III), financial procedures (like S.O.L.O. Fund details mentioned in Article III, Sec 5c), membership requirements details, operational guidelines for initiatives, and other procedures not fully elaborated in the Constitution. (Self-correction: The Constitution frequently references this manual, making it a critical secondary document).

Election Guidelines

    • Description: Governing all SGA-administered elections (including Executive Council, Senate, Mr./Ms. TTU, and ballot measures, as per Article III, Sec 5a and Article VIII), these guidelines detail the rules for candidacy, campaigning procedures, voting methods (preferential or approval-based, per Art. VIII, Sec 2), timelines, and the role of the Commission for Elections. They ensure fair, transparent, and accessible elections.

Senate Rules of Order

    • Description: These rules (mentioned in Art II, Sec 2h and potentially detailed further in the Policies Manual) govern the specific procedures of the SGA Senate meetings, including debate, voting, legislative processes, and parliamentary procedure, ensuring orderly and efficient conduct of legislative business.

S.O.L.O. Fund Policies & Procedures

    • Description: While potentially part of the SGA Policies Manual, specific guidelines may exist detailing the application process, eligibility criteria, review procedures by the Committee for the Student Organization Life Opportunity (S.O.L.O.) Fund (Art III, Sec 5c), and allocation rules for student organizations seeking funding.

Amendments and Updates

Our governing documents are living documents. The SGA Constitution can be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the voting membership of the SGA Senate (Article X, Section 7). Other documents like the Policies Manual or Election Guidelines typically have their own amendment processes, often involving Senate review and approval, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
