Intercultural Affairs
Reaching Achievement and Committed to Excellence Peer Mentor Program
The Intercultural Affairs peer mentoring program exists to assist first-time students with their transition to life at Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½. The program is designed to provide social and intellectual support for students in an effort to help them become positively involved academically, culturally and socially as part of the Tennessee Tech community.
Why the Reaching Achievement & Committed to Excellence Program?
The Reaching Achievement and Committed to Excellence Program is a great way to get connected to Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ and the community and to meet new friends! The program provides an opportunity for incoming students (mentees) to connect with their peers and upperclassmen who will serve as their mentors.
The mentors go through several trainings once selected and will aid new students with their transition (academically, socially and personally) from high school to Tennessee Tech. Mentors will meet with their mentees at least once a week or for a planned activity such as study sessions, bowling, going to eat, attending campus or community events, shopping, playing sports or going to church. This program and similar programs significantly help with student retention and success.
What Does the Program Offer?
- Sneak Peak Week
- Activity Nights
- Study Nights
- Freshman Year Experience Course
- Academic, Professional, Social Programs with mentors and campus or community partners
- Opportunity to be a mentor as an upperclassman
