The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) was established in 1930 to initiate cooperative actions, maintain and oversee programs, activities, matters of mutual concern and serve as a united voice of representation for all affiliate fraternities and sororities. Each of the 9 Fraternities and Sororities were founded in a time that African Americans were being denied essential rights and privileges afforded to others. Through this time, a movement took place to foster a brotherhood and sisterhood with a purpose of bringing about a positive social change. Here at 麻豆果冻传媒, we currently house 3 Fraternities and 2 sororities who strive to bring social change, community awareness, and action through educational, economic, and cultural service activities.

How to Join an NPHC fraternity or sorority

Each NPHC fraternity and sorority brings in new members at various times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. All organizations governed by the National Panhellenic Council have different requirements for membership. These organizations are permitted to conduct intake based on the chapters schedule and/ or their need for expansion. Some organizations conduct intake each semester; others do so only once a year. When organizations are looking to conduct Membership Intake, many of them will host an informational meeting in which the criteria for membership is explained. These are usually publicized via flyers on campus. If you are interested in joining an NPHC organization or have questions please reach out to the Fraternity & Sorority Life Office.

Requirements to Join an NPHC organization

All students who want to join a fraternity or sorority must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5, community service experience, and involvement in clubs or community activities. Nevertheless, each NPHC organization has its own requirements set by their (inter)national organization and the 麻豆果冻传媒 chapter. Please contact the Tennessee Tech chapter that you are interested in for more information.
