麻豆果冻传媒 is undergoing a level of construction that it hasn鈥檛 experienced since the 1960s. Projects include new buildings, the renovation of multiple buildings, parking lot construction, and infrastructure work. This website highlights in-progress construction projects. Current Construction Projects
Ashraf Islam Engineering Building
麻豆果冻传媒's new 100,000-square-foot engineering building is an investment in
Tech as the state's only technological university. This new, modern facility will
allow Tech to continue to provide a top engineering education and serve the students
of the College of Engineering, which annually awards nearly a quarter of the total
engineering and computer science degrees from Tennessee's nine public universities.
Along with classrooms and labs, the new facility will provide cross-disciplinary space
that allows engineering students to collaborate on solving real-world problems. The
new engineering building will create an engaging place to learn and conduct research
for the engineers of the future.
New Tucker Stadium West
A winning university football program can generate tremendous benefits to the campus and local community. It can boost the local economy, strengthen the community/campus relationship, create spirit and pride in the student body, and generate publicity and visibility that increases student enrollment. The New Tucker Stadium West is critical to Tech's football success.
The New Tucker Stadium West will be approximately 86,790 gross square feet and will be located on the site of the existing West Stands. The facility will provide three levels of seating, concessions, spirit shop, ticket booths, game day locker room, and ancillary spaces required to support game day activities.
Premium seating will be available. The Concourse Level will include chair back and drink rail seating. The Club Level will provide a mixture of loge seating and chair back seating. The new facility will also offer premium rentable Suites. The Press Box Level will support enhanced game day operations. A conceptual rendering of the facility is shown at left.
Demolition of the existing West Stadium facility began in August 2024.
Parking & Transportation Improvements
This large-scale site project provides necessary upgrades to roadways, infrastructure, and landscaping and introduces dedicated pedestrian pathways and a plaza to enhance student experience. The project includes the conversion of portions of Peachtree Avenue and University Drive to pedestrian-only walkways. The closure of William L. Jones Drive from Derryberry to Peachtree Avenue reduces vehicles on the interior campus for improved pedestrian safety. Road improvements and new sidewalks have been implemented on portions of Peachtree Avenue, West 10th Street, and Stadium Drive. Interior campus parking lots have also been reworked for better flow. This project also includes new campus gateway signage, which marks the perimeter of campus.
Johnson Hall Renovation & Foster Hall Demolition
Johnson Hall is home of the College of Business and its four academic units: Accounting and Business Law; Economics, Finance, and Marketing; Decision Sciences and Management, and Graduate Studies. This four-story building was constructed in the late 60鈥檚, was occupied in 1970, and contains 68,171 gross square feet. The building has undergone several classroom updates in the last decade and a new roof was installed in 2021. The renovation will update the existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, which have exceeded their life expectancy. Other renovations and updates required include asbestos abatement, updated finishes (walls, floors, ceilings), enlarged elevator, new fixtures in restrooms, doors/hardware, and window replacement. Foster Hall was demolished in August 2024 as part of this project, opening up green space for the campus adjacent to the new Peachtree pedestrian mall and plaza.
Derryberry Hall Upgrades Phase 1
Renovations to Derryberry Hall will be made in phases, beginning with the auditorium. The auditorium renovation will include a full update to all mechanical and electrical systems, addition of a sprinkler system, repairs to the building envelope, asbestos abatement, and all new finishes.
Phase 2 will provide updates for the remainder of the building, including similar upgrades that are being made to the auditorium with the addition of updated plumbing.
