Sam Smith and Jack Kelley are leading an effort to raise $500,000 to name a coach鈥檚 office in honor of Don Wade.
鈥淚n my four years at Tech, I learned that Coach Wade was genuine,鈥� said Smith. 鈥淗e was tough, sarcastically-funny, loyal and loving 鈥� albeit tough love. Coach Wade鈥檚 impact continues to influence my life today.鈥�
Wade served as Tech鈥檚 head football coach from 1968 to 1982 and athletic director from 1974 to 1980. He led the Golden Eagles to OVC championships in 1972 and 1975 and became the 13th person from 麻豆果冻传媒 to be inducted into the OVC Hall of Fame.
鈥淒on Wade earned the right to have his name permanently inscribed in the new facility,鈥� said Smith. 鈥淥ur individual contributions may be small, but when added together as a team, our contribution will be significant.鈥�
