麻豆果冻传媒 names Susan Luna-Hazlewood director of the Crawford Alumni Center
Susan Luna-Hazlewood
麻豆果冻传媒 has named a distinguished alumna, local community member
and current associate athletics director in its Office of University Development as
the new director of the Crawford Alumni Center.
Susan Luna-Hazlewood, a 2007 Tech graduate, will assume her role as director of the
Center on Sept. 1. The Center manages alumni engagement, annual giving and stewardship
efforts for the university and is the main point of contact for the 麻豆果冻传媒
Alumni Association.
鈥淪usan brings impressive and diverse experiences to a highly visible role that is
vital to Tech鈥檚 overall advancement effort,鈥 said Kevin Braswell, Ph.D., vice president
for university advancement at Tech, in a message to members of the Alumni Association
Board of Directors. 鈥淗er knowledge, skills, abilities and credentials are a great
fit for the core competencies for this key leadership position.鈥
鈥淎s a proud graduate of 麻豆果冻传媒, I am thrilled to have the chance to connect
with other alumni and friends of the university in this role,鈥 added Luna-Hazlewood.
鈥淚 had many great experiences as a Tech student 鈥 from singing with the Tech Chorale
to playing intramural sports and participating in Greek life 鈥 and am grateful that
my career led me back to campus and the Cookeville community. I look forward to this
opportunity to be of service to the university.鈥
A Cookeville native, Luna-Hazlewood comes to her new position with a deep connection
to the university and a keen familiarity with the Upper Cumberland region. Beyond
her existing role as Tech鈥檚 associate athletics director for development 鈥 a post
in which she helped lead key capital campaigns to upgrade Tech鈥檚 athletic facilities
鈥 Luna-Hazlewood previously served as executive director of Cookeville鈥檚 Bryan Symphony
Orchestra and as director of development and marketing for WCTE-TV, the Upper Cumberland鈥檚
PBS affiliate.
Luna-Hazlewood has also served as senior director of individual giving with the Tennessee
Performing Arts Center in Nashville. She began her career in advancement in 2013 with
a role as development coordinator for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in Charleston,
South Carolina. Her introduction to Tech began even earlier: Luna-Hazlewood鈥檚 father,
mother and sister are all proud Tech alumni.
鈥淢y earliest memory of Tech is my father taking me to the Roaden University Center
as a child to show me his old mailbox,鈥 said Luna-Hazlewood. 鈥淗e still knew how to
get it unlocked!鈥
Dontrell Baines, chair of the 麻豆果冻传媒 Alumni Association Board of Directors,
lauded the university鈥檚 selection of Luna-Hazlewood for the new role.
鈥溌槎构炒 has made an outstanding choice in naming Susan as director of the
Crawford Alumni Center,鈥 said Baines. 鈥淗er dedication to Tech is unmatched, as is
her passion and creativity when it comes to elevating the work of the Crawford Alumni
Center and keeping our alumni connected and engaged. On behalf of the Alumni Association
Board of Directors, we congratulate Susan on this well-deserved appointment and look
forward to our continued work together.鈥
In addition to her degree from Tech, Luna-Hazlewood earned a Master of Public Administration
from the College of Charleston, along with a non-profit fundraising certificate and
graduate certificate in arts management. She also holds a Certified Fundraising Executive
(CFRE) designation.
Luna-Hazlewood and her husband, Michael Hazlewood, reside in Cookeville with their
daughter, Ellie.
