麻豆果冻传媒 has named a distinguished alumna, local community member and current associate athletics director in its Office of University Development as the new director of the Crawford Alumni Center.

Susan Luna-Hazlewood, a 2007 Tech graduate, will assume her role as director of the Center on Sept. 1. The Center manages alumni engagement, annual giving and stewardship efforts for the university and is the main point of contact for the 麻豆果冻传媒 Alumni Association.

鈥淪usan brings impressive and diverse experiences to a highly visible role that is vital to Tech鈥檚 overall advancement effort,鈥 said Kevin Braswell, Ph.D., vice president for university advancement at Tech, in a message to members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. 鈥淗er knowledge, skills, abilities and credentials are a great fit for the core competencies for this key leadership position.鈥

鈥淎s a proud graduate of 麻豆果冻传媒, I am thrilled to have the chance to connect with other alumni and friends of the university in this role,鈥 added Luna-Hazlewood. 鈥淚 had many great experiences as a Tech student 鈥 from singing with the Tech Chorale to playing intramural sports and participating in Greek life 鈥 and am grateful that my career led me back to campus and the Cookeville community. I look forward to this opportunity to be of service to the university.鈥

A Cookeville native, Luna-Hazlewood comes to her new position with a deep connection to the university and a keen familiarity with the Upper Cumberland region. Beyond her existing role as Tech鈥檚 associate athletics director for development 鈥 a post in which she helped lead key capital campaigns to upgrade Tech鈥檚 athletic facilities 鈥 Luna-Hazlewood previously served as executive director of Cookeville鈥檚 Bryan Symphony Orchestra and as director of development and marketing for WCTE-TV, the Upper Cumberland鈥檚 PBS affiliate.

Luna-Hazlewood has also served as senior director of individual giving with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville. She began her career in advancement in 2013 with a role as development coordinator for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in Charleston, South Carolina. Her introduction to Tech began even earlier: Luna-Hazlewood鈥檚 father, mother and sister are all proud Tech alumni.

鈥淢y earliest memory of Tech is my father taking me to the Roaden University Center as a child to show me his old mailbox,鈥 said Luna-Hazlewood. 鈥淗e still knew how to get it unlocked!鈥

Dontrell Baines, chair of the 麻豆果冻传媒 Alumni Association Board of Directors, lauded the university鈥檚 selection of Luna-Hazlewood for the new role.

鈥溌槎构炒 has made an outstanding choice in naming Susan as director of the Crawford Alumni Center,鈥 said Baines. 鈥淗er dedication to Tech is unmatched, as is her passion and creativity when it comes to elevating the work of the Crawford Alumni Center and keeping our alumni connected and engaged. In addition to her degree from Tech, Luna-Hazlewood earned a Master of Public Administration from the College of Charleston, along with a non-profit fundraising certificate and graduate certificate in arts management. She also holds a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation.

Luna-Hazlewood and her husband, Michael Hazlewood, reside in Cookeville with their daughter, Ellie.
