Tech students to honor Martin Luther King Jr. with service
Some 麻豆果冻传媒 students, faculty and staff marched from the lawn of President Phil Oldham to the steps of Derryberry Hall to honor the late Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday.
Members of the fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, led the annual silent march, kicking off a week of celebration for the late civil rights leader.
The 麻豆果冻传媒 Commission on the Status of Blacks has coordinated a week of service to further honor King. On Wednesday, there will be a book donation for local Head Start programs beginning at 11 a.m. On Thursday, AmeriCorps members will be set up on Centennial Plaza, recruiting volunteers for a February tornado cleanup. On Friday, there will be a shopping and stocking event for the Tech Food Pantry.
