Dr. Kinsey Simone teaches doctoral and masters-level quantitative research methods & design in education and obtained her PhD in program planning and evaluation at Tennessee Tech in 2023. Her primary research interests include mad studies, societal stigmas towards mental health disabilities, and the effectiveness of interventions towards decreasing stigmas and increasing empathy towards obsessive-compulsive disorder survivors, as well as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental health illnesses. 

Other research interests include motivation and aspirations, predictors of self-actualization, rural depopulation. Dr. Simone planned and implemented the inaugural 2024 Mad Topics panel symposium on OCD and ADHD and plans to continue research and praxis in mad topics for the university and community. She has been a guest lecturer in courses on applying quantitative methods within specific disciplines or fields and is fluent in R Software, IBM SPSS software, AM software, and JASP. 

Dr. Simone’s past publications have been accepted to the international Journal of Global Education and Research and the International Journal of Curriculum and Instruction, and she serves as a consulting reviewer for three peer-reviewed journals, including the Social Justice and Culturally-Affirming Education in K-12 Settings, the International Journal of Whole Schooling, and the SoJo Journal: Educational Foundations and Social Justice. 

She assists in evaluation of various externally funded programs and serves as the Program Chair for the Educational Evaluation Topic Interest Group in the American Evaluation Association. Additionally, she is the Director of Student Engagement for IMPACT Cookeville and is the co-faculty advisor of IMPACT TTU, an organization which encourages cultural awareness and service.
