Aug. 26-Sept. 26

Gallery Talk: Sept. 26 | 4:30 p.m.

Joan Derryberry Art Gallery
Roaden University Center

In my creative journey, I delve into the depths of my subconscious, where gnarly dreams and vivid imagery intertwine. I'm captivated by the intricacies within these visions, each detail connected to a deeper truth, waiting to be unveiled. As I explore the context behind these images, they form a personal mythology, a narrative unique to my own experience. Driven by an innate need to share these revelations with the world, I seek to saturate my work with their identity and significance.

Pough demonstrates how influential women rappers such as Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot, and Lil' Kim are building on the legacy of earlier generations of women 鈥 from Sojourner Truth to sisters of the black power and civil rights movements 鈥 to disrupt and break into the dominant patriarchal public sphere.
